Submit EU Digital Policy Research
The European Digital Policy Initiative (EDPI) accepts submissions of academic-style research on EU digital policy for potential publication on edpi.eu.
We are particularly interested in research papers, master's dissertations, adapted dissertations, working papers and preprints that offer rigorous and original analysis of European digital policy.
Submissions do not need to have been written specifically for EDPI.
What we are looking for
Research should sit at the intersection of European Union policy and digital policy. A paper should therefore have both a meaningful EU dimension and a meaningful digital-policy dimension.
Relevant subjects may include, among others, EU technology regulation, artificial intelligence, data protection and governance, online platforms, digital competition, digital consumer protection, cybersecurity, digital sovereignty and the development or implementation of EU digital legislation.
We are primarily interested in analytical and research-led work rather than short commentary or policy briefs.
Submissions should normally be comparable in depth and analytical standard to a strong postgraduate research paper or master's dissertation. They should present a clear argument or research question, engage appropriately with relevant evidence and literature, and provide references for sources relied upon.
Length and format
Submissions should normally be at least 3,000 words. There is no fixed maximum length.
PDF is preferred, although Microsoft Word documents are also accepted.
A submission may be:
an original paper;
a master's dissertation or an adapted version of one;
a working paper or preprint; or
work that has previously appeared elsewhere, provided the author holds the necessary rights or permission for EDPI to publish it.
Can I publish my dissertation with EDPI?
Yes. EDPI welcomes strong master's dissertations and adapted dissertation research where the subject falls within EU digital policy. A dissertation does not need to have been prepared specifically for publication, and previously deposited or published work may also be considered where the author has the right to republish it.
Editorial review
All submissions are considered by EDPI before publication. Submission does not guarantee acceptance.
The review is editorial rather than formal academic peer review. Particular consideration is given to the quality of the research and argument, the use of evidence and sources, the relevance of the subject to EU digital policy, and the overall standard of the work.
Where EDPI considers that changes would strengthen a submission or are necessary before publication, these will be discussed with the author. No substantive edits will be published without the author's approval.
EDPI may decline a submission without requesting revisions.
Authorship and research integrity
Submissions should represent the author's own substantive research, analysis and judgement.
Authors are responsible for the originality and accuracy of their work, the proper attribution of sources, and ensuring that citations and references accurately support the claims made.
Authors should also disclose any employment, financial interest, client relationship or other connection that could reasonably be relevant to the subject of the research. Relevant interests may be disclosed alongside the published article in the interests of transparency.
Publication and copyright
Accepted research will be published on edpi.eu as part of EDPI's research and publications, with clear author attribution.
Authors retain copyright in their work. Publication by EDPI is non-exclusive, and authors remain free to make their work available or publish it elsewhere, subject to any separate agreements they may have entered into.
There are no submission or publication fees.
