About EDPI
The European Digital Policy Initiative (EDPI) is an independent EU digital-policy research and policy initiative focused on European technology regulation.
EDPI conducts research, analysis and specialist information work on the development of EU digital policy. Its aim is to contribute to informed policy debate and improve understanding of how European technology regulation develops and operates in practice.
EDPI engages with the wider EU policy community, including policymakers, researchers, journalists, legal practitioners, civil society, industry and public-affairs professionals, through its publications, research projects and exchange of information and analysis.
Governance
EDPI is an independent initiative without separate legal personality.
It was founded and is operated by James Tamim, EU Digital Policy Analyst, who is responsible for EDPI's research, publications, projects and external activities.
EDPI currently has no employees, members, governing board or external advisers.
Independence and funding
EDPI is currently self-funded by James Tamim. Its limited operating costs, principally website hosting and domain costs, are paid personally by its founder.
EDPI currently receives no institutional funding, grants, donations, sponsorship or membership funding and does not represent clients or members.
These disclosures reflect EDPI's current activities and funding arrangements and will be updated if they change.
Projects
EDPI develops and maintains a number of projects focused on different aspects of European digital policy, from specialist legislative coverage and public-interest media to longer-form research and analysis.
Digital Fairness Act
DigitalFairnessAct.com is an EDPI research and information project dedicated to the development of the European Union’s Digital Fairness Act and the wider evolution of EU consumer protection in digital markets.
The project provides information, analysis and resources concerning the legislative initiative and related EU policy developments.
Digital Fairness Act Newsletter
The Digital Fairness Act Newsletter is an EDPI publication providing regular updates and analysis on the development of the Digital Fairness Act and related EU digital-consumer policy.
DigitalFairnessAct.com and the Digital Fairness Act Newsletter are projects of EDPI and are not separate organisations or legal entities.
Europe Echo
Europe Echo is EDPI’s media project covering EU politics, institutions and public debate through videos, livestreams and edited coverage of publicly available institutional material.
Its aim is to make European political developments and the work of the EU institutions more accessible, easier to follow and more useful to a wider audience.
Europe Echo operates as an editorial and media project and is not affiliated with the European Union or its institutions.
Research & Publications
EDPI publishes independent research and long-form analysis on European digital policy, EU governance and European integration.
Its publications have examined subjects including the Brussels Effect and the global influence of EU regulation, the emergence of European data-protection norms, the EU’s vulnerability to weaponised interdependence, and differentiated integration.
EDPI’s research and publications are made publicly available through its website and external academic publishers.
Transparency
EDPI is independent and is not affiliated with any EU institution, political party, company, university, trade association, non-governmental organisation or other external organisation.
